The immediate past governor of Anambara state, Willi Obino, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Fides media learnt that Obiano was apprehended at the Lagos International Airport few hours after he handed over to the new Governor of the state, Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
According to reports, the former governor was on his way out of the country to the US when he was arrested by the anti-graft agency.
The EFCC will take obiano to their custody. Obiano who has been on the agency’s watch list was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 8:30pm as he prepared to board a flight to Houston, USA.
The spokesman of the EFCC Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed Obiano’s arrest but withheld further details.
In a letter addressed to the controller general of immigration, the EFCC requested to be informed of Obiano’s movement from any of the international airports entry and exist point.
